Troubleshooting a Potential Problem

    Good JOB! and talk about rapid turn around service. where do I send $ ?
    I also have an appointment with the Genius Bar, tomorrow, hurricane Irene saturday. maybe they'll tell me the same thing. Of course, all my docs are backed up.
    BTW- is any data recovery possible?
    I should be honest and mention that i totted the macbook while it was aleep and it may have jostled it a bit in transport. I bet if i had shut it down this would not have happened in transport?

    Of course.

    Shutting down is not necessary. Closing your Mac and waiting for the white sleep light to begin pulsing is all you need. When it is pulsing, your hard drive is asleep, which is entirely the same as it being shut down since it isn't spinning.

    All it takes is a little bump. Depending on the age of a drive, setting it down on a hard surface may put it's lights out for good. Drives are unpredictable, which is why, as you do, users must back up data.
