I want to do a short film over Christmas break, but I'm at a loss for a plot. I'd like to do something original, and I'd like to go with a comedy. I'd also like to try some creative cinematography (I recently picked up a camera crane, and I'd like to take advantage of it)...

...Any ideas for a plot? I'm trying to brainstorm. Tell me whatever you come up with!

I like your idea of doing something creative. How about a plot line of a creative cinematographer who asks the whole world how to be creative.

Look, I'm brainstorming. And when I brainstorm, I LISTEN AROUND FOR IDEAS. Some people have some good ones.

Make a film where Alan Greenspan walks up to a lightpost on a deserted intersection in a small town in Wyoming, and throws a bucket of crab skeletons on it, making the lightpost turn anthropomorphic. The two start smoking mescaline and peyote, and play Yahtzee. While they are doing this, Darth Vader and Jesus Christ race by, riding on armadillos.

    How about--
The Earth! Who the hell would want to live here? All the Martians wouldn't want to invade the way things are looking!
Bring in a reference to the way politics are nowadays ("I'll have some company say you are an *******", "Well, I am going to get a newscaster to call you an *******", "Hey, look, lets call Nader an ******* because he...uh... is a political enemy!")
Just make sure you make fun of everyone the same amount or an angry mob will rise up and kill you.

That might make a good movie... angry mob kills videomaker....hmmm...

Do a mockumentary on a rock band. Or a dog show.

    Oh, wait...

You should do a documentary of yourself, packaging up your powermac and fedex-ing it to me.

Or you could just go uber-meta and make a documentary about trolling forums for an idea for a documentary...

Do a mockumentary on product wrapping - especially CD and DVD wraps and the packaging on $4 children's toys. Present freshly purchased CDs, DVDs, and children's toys (the ones with lots of tiny parts individually twist-tied and/or taped and/or shrink-wrapped into a box which is itself hard to open) to various people and time how fast they can open them. See if anyone can open them without use of tools of any sort.

Edit: For extra credit, attempt to show how all this wrapping in any way deters theft.

I think he meant "trolling" as in "to fish in" as in "fishing around for ideas", not that you were being a troll.

    At least, that's my interpretation.

    How about...

As your girlfriend is leaving you, you hit your head on a tree branch. After you wake up with both a hangover and a headache (the first one will be fun to film) but with no idea on how you got them, you have the ability to read thoughts. Swap boyfriend and girlfriend if it makes it easier for you.

Have lots of fun playing with newfound powers. End up getting in major trouble (I.E. you learn that some guy is planning a mob hit) and try to stop aforementioned big problem. Insert cheesy line like, "I saw James Bond do this in a movie once!"

Get yourself shot, but instead of girl/boy friend coming back to you they give you some flowers in your hospital room with a tacky card like, "Get better soon. From, Someone who is not an ass"

Honestly, that idea is REALLY good! (Assuming "you" refers to the lead actor, since I can't act ;) ) With a little work, I think it would work pretty well. Do you have a problem if I use it? (I would assume not, since it was posted here, but I like to double check).

Yes, "you" referred to the lead actor. See, count the number of letters in "lead actor" and you get 9. "You" is a total of 3. And heck, if you had to do "lead actress" then you would have gotten 11. You was much better to use because I was lazy....

Sure, you can use it. But I would want to see the end result of it... and if you make more than like, 20 bucks off of it, I better see some royalties.
