Hi, I did a quick search, but didn't really find anything too relevant.

Just looking for some recomondations for a Turn Based RPG for Mac...similar to Final Fantasy ect..

I'm not into the monthly fee games, or turn based strategy (like Age of Empires)

    Any suggestions ?

    Thanks

    :)

Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick with what you're looking for, but how about Knights of the Old Republic? I suppose it's a bit of a mix between real time and turn based, but it's good fun none the less.

Anything from Spiderweb Software. Sure, they're oldskool, but I find them more fun than most commercial games (plus they're Mac-first, for a change). Just yesterday I spent, well, way too much time playing Blades of Avernum....

I'll definitely second the Avernum games (not so keen on the Geneforge ones, but they're still fun) from Spiderweb. The graphics are really oldschool, but it terms of absorption into the story and sheer playability, these are very hard to beat.

    Thanks for the replys.

So the suggestions are, Fallout 1 and 2, I'll check those out.

    And games from Spider Web....

oh, and I loved KOTOR, but I already beat it three times on the Xbox.

Anyone ever try Freedom Force? Is that a turn based RPG? It looks cool anyway.

I just got Neverwinter nights and I will try it tonight..hopefully it will provide me with what I'm looking for.

I will third the Avernum series.

Hours I needed to study this weekend: 10
    Hours I did study : 0
    Hours playing Avernum til 5 A.M. : 7

If you like good gameplay and good story, you cannot go wrong with the Avernum series of games. The graphics might not be on par with a 360 but personally I love the classic style RPG's, hand drawn sprites, the worx.

I know it's not a Mac game, but if you have a PS2, you cannot go wrong with La Pucelle: Tactics and Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. And if you go really old school, Shining Force and Shining Force II on Genesis, Shining Force CD for SegaCD, and Shining Force III for Saturn.
