So I have a audio-technica that has a preamp in it. Yay, because from what I read with a preamp I can just plug it right into my Line In and play it through my Line Out speakers. It doesn't work like that though, the only time I can heard my turntable through my PC speakers is when I'm in audacity and recording it. Is there any way were I can just get my PC speakers to play whats on my turntable without booting up a recording software and minimizing it?

I think what you want is a 'play through' facility. Oddly enough, the Mac OS used to do this naturally many years ago. But we're talking OS 8 or 9.
These days it needs an extra bit of software..
Go to this page http://rogueamoeba.com/freebies/ and download "Line IN"
Btw, you talk of PC speakers, but I assume you mean for a Mac here..

Anyway, this should do what you want :)

Ahh sorry, I can't help much then. But im certain similar utilities must also exist for windows. Maybe search/google for "Windows audio play through" or something?

Good luck :)
