    Where's the outrage amongst the American public? The UN scandal is peanuts compared to this. I think it's a case where the US should get it's own house in order before it starts attacking the UN for its shortcomings.

    Shortcomings in a scheme designed and managed by the US which somehow gets to be Kofi Annan's fault.

    but it's the typical rovian tactic: go on the offensive. the administration knows its reconstruction effort is in shambles, so it overinflates the accomplishments and attacks the UN.

    and if i didn't know any better, i'd say the awarding of jobs to preferred firms who then charge much for doing little is reminiscent of the way the mob works. let's hit 'em all with RICO charges.
