First day back at work after a week off (my dad passed away suddenly last Sunday).

I have a backlog of 14 DVD's worth of images, a messy desk, my head hurts and it's my first day alone since last week.

    Just wanna take a nap.

Thanks for allowing me to bitch.

Sorry to hear about your Dad - I noticed you hadn't been around but figured perhaps your back was playing up again. Fingers crossed things get better for you.

Yah, sucks about Dad - totally unexpected, but as a blessing - in his sleep.

Now everyone bring their laptops over and help me process these images.

iGary, I noticed your absence, but chalked it up to probable issues with your back. I'm very sorry to hear about your dad. Hard to look at work and get excited about it, but it is fortunate that you will have something else to occupy your mind for a bit.
Will the work backlog force you to delay your impending surgery?

Yeah, my Dad passe away two months ago already, it feels strange. Not because he is not around but because I feel so happy for him and so proud, I haven't cry about him yet.

About being tired... take it with calm, drink some coffee and think you are in Jamaica, in a beach, with a reage band in the background and relax... ;)

I'm sorry about your loss. can you work out of your home....or do you work from home? If not, perhaps they'll let you do some work at home so you can have some alone time where you don't get the constant interruptions of "oh I am so sorry" and then having to tell the story 100 times in a day. :(

Thanks, PM666 - I rescheduled it when I was down in Georgia. Next month.

I just need to get re-amped again. It's been a whole week of visiting people, being the family representative, blah de blah. Just need a day to decompress.

Perhaps I'll get four discs done, and then call it a day.

Thanks for all the nice wishes. It was a rough week.

    Wait!

Is this one of those wretched pity-parties?! Shame on you... :D

But seriously, many condolences and hope you feel more like your normal self soon... give it time.

hehe. I almost posted a link to that thread, too. Then I noticed that iGary posted in that thread before he started this one. He knew what he was doing.

If I would love to help you with your work but I'm guessing you have *just a bit* more talent than I do ;)

Sorry to hear about your Dad.

    Thanks Runninmac and everyone else...

Think I'll get the desk cleaned up, have a good hot shower, and then hop into it.

Just needed to vent - the BF is off to work, just felt kinda lonely here.

That is really sad to hear about your loss. As another person here who has gone through something similar I was never really prepared for the death of my mother. I am glad that you are doing alright and that you have some sort of routine that you can get back into.

You have my sympathies, iGary. It must be very hard to lose a parent, and even more so when it is unexpected.

    Thanks all.

Thought I'd share something with all of you.

My dad and I did not talk for almost two straight years until 2003, when we both agreed to stop acting like children. Had we never straightened this out...

Lesson learned - don't let strained relationships fester.

Saturday night before he died, he called to let me know he got a cell phone (he was en electronic engineer for 30 years and didn't have a cell phone - go figure). I didn't pick up because I didn't notice the number. Picked up the voice mail later, and it was Dad. I was going to call him back the next day, but my partmer told me to call him back then. Had I not called, I would not have had that last conversation with him.

Lesson learned. Don't use voicemail and e-mail as an excuse to put people off till later. They might not be there when you call back.

Thanks for the nice wishes, all.
