A quick question to anyone living in the UK.

Ever heard of Padworth College? What kind of school is it? Hard to get into? Is it a good school, average, over-priced, <other> ? Does it have a good reputation?

Someone I know wants to go there, and I'm just looking for some info. Any help GREATLY appreciated!

    THANKS!! :) :D

Never heard of it myself... and I used to live in Berkshire.

According to their website it would seem like they're a small school focusing on G.C.S.E's (English Secondary and High School Qualifications) through A Levels which follow G.C.S.E.'s but come before University Degrees and AVCE's which as far as I know, are an equivalent of a GNVQ qualification.

From the general gist, they seem to focus more on non-English, international students, or atleast that's the impression I get as they make it clear that they accommodate international students with varying levels of English knowledge several times.

    Have you tried their website?

Yeah, I saw it already, thanks.

I was looking for an outsiders view. Like if it has a good reputation or not. Hmm... maybe no news is good news this time? :D

Never heard of it either. From a brief perusal of the website it looks like a very small independent (i.e. private) school.

It's obviously not one of the famous ones with a very good reputation (St Pauls, Eton, Winchester, Westminster) so hard to know much about it.

As iGAV said it may specialise in foreign students - there are quite a lot of places like this. I imagine it is not cheap.

Ask them to send you the exam results etc..

EDIT: It occurs that this post will be very patronising if you are a Brit. Apologies in advance if this is the case....

I've never heard of it (that means nothing) but I doubt it gains the same recognition as some of the UK's more recognised educational institutes.

The BBC website has some gauges of performance, and to be honest it doesn't seem outstanding although A Levels outperform the national average, but the relatively few students means it's harder to gauge the insitutes performance.

    Rinky dink link

What does you friend actually want to study and at what level?

Bit more information here as well.

Well, it's actually the school's assitant headmaster. She approached me today and asked if I knew anything about it (even-though I'm from the US, not the U.K. ) One of her students wants to go, and she asked me what kind of school it is.

I thought I'd toss the question out and see if anyone here knew about the school. I guess not, so I'll just tell her it's a pretty good school

It's not that big of a deal, but thanks for all your help :)
