Hi! Another newbie to OS X. I have a 24" iMac running 10.4.8.

Not a major problem, but quite a nuisance when I try to keep things organized:

The network icon sitting on my desktop refuses to move. All the other icons will freely move anywhere and 'snap to grid' is turned off. The only time the network icon moves is if I change resolution.

Now, right clicking on 'Network' shows that it's read only but I also have a 'Servers' icon that's read only and it moves just fine, so I can't see that being the cause.

So..

1) Is this normal behavior?

2) What can be done about it

3) At a last resort, how do I just remove the icon from my desktop (I know it take a third party utility, what do you recommend)

Thanks for your time and patience!

Wait, how did you get your Network icon onto the Desktop in the first place? We're talking about this icon, right? :)

Yes Mad jew, that is the correct icon.

I have no idea how it's on my desktop - is that unnatural? No I don't think it's an alias. Right-clicking shows eject, but that doesn't work.

Update:
It seems to only show up when I have "Show hidden files and folders" enabled

Here's a SS of the info:
