Ok so I have a couple of questions that I need answered.

    1. When do you presume apple will stop making the PowerBook G4 12" replacement battery?
    2. What is a good third party battery for the 12" powerbook G4 that is better than apples. I mean better not the same.
    3. When do you presume apple will totally stop support for Tiger?

He's being smart a$$. No one knows for sure, although it's a good guess that the next release of OS X will leave out support for your G4.

I believe he said March because of the report that Apple is going to add the PowerBook G4 to the list of obsolete computer computer on March 17th. That means they will no longer provide service parts for it.

Both OWC and FastMac sell batteries that are better than Apple's.

It would be economically feasible if they stopped support for the G4's. I believe the latest revision was announced in 05 with the macbook's introduced in 06, so most if not all applecare agreements should be expired or nearing expiration.

I sold my 12" Powerbook superdrive 1.5ghz to another MR member a few months ago. It was purchased in August 2006 and has Applecare running through this coming August. I ran Leopard on it no problem, though I disabled Dashboard and upgraded the hard drive to the maximum 250gb/5400rpm Western Digital.

I dont think Apple would add all the G4 aluminium models on in March, especially as they only recently placed the G4 Titanium (2-4 years older) on the list, I reckon its more likely to be towards the end of 2009, into 2010 for them to discontinue all replacement parts.

    I've put Leopard on my brother's Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz - runs like a charm.

I wouldn't use a 3rd party battery, what with stories of battery fires and stuff. Stuck with the real thing.
