Does Boot Camp support installation without use of a USB flash drive on the 2016 retina MacBook 12 inch?

Just wondering if anyone who has installed windows using Boot Camp on their retina 12 inch MacBook could comment. Apple's website mentions some macs don't require a USB flash drive, but it doesn't specify which models

Thanks.

I've only used a USB flash drive recently but presumably a super drive could also be used, I have done it that way before a few years back on MBA's. But given the cost of a small USB stick these days why bother.
