Forget HD and hardware specs, how do you have your console(s) set up? Do you have them vertical (disk goes in perpendicular to the floor like this |) or horizontal (disk parallel to the floor like this -) or do you have some other bizarre setup?

I ended up horizontal on the Wii just because of entertainment center constraints. I prefer the look of vertical but with wireless controllers I don't ever see the system unless I want to change game disks.

Edit: Should've read my initial post closer. I meant to limit this to only the latest 3 (Wii, PS3, 360) since all seem to be pictured as vertical in most situations). Oh well, c'est la vie...

Wii vertical (just because that's how I saw all the pictures of it and it feels natural)

360 - Vertical, otherwise it looks too much like an old Beige Box PC.

    360: vertical
    Ps2 slim: vertical

Both look too cool vertical to put them any other way IMO :)

Last gen I had the PS2 vertical, along with the Xbox and Cube in standard positioning.

Now I have all three nexgen consoles vertical, and the PS2 [which I'm keeping until Guitar Hero guitars work on the PS3] is now horizontal like my Xbox. Cube is still in the mix, but only until I find a good home for it.

Wii: vertical. Doesn't fit in my space otherwise. Plus it comes with that nice stand, why not use it!
PS2: horizontal. Too tall to fit vertical, or else I would. It works better vertical, easier time reading discs.

Wii is vertical, jammed between the DVD recorder and the Sky box.

Every console I've ever owned has been set up horizontally.

The top shelf of our "entertainment enter" (read: old TV cabinet that we stuck in the basement) formerly held: Cube (both, really) N64 (obviously horizontal) SNES (same). Now it's: N64 -> Wii -> SNES. The Wii is vertical simply because of space restraints. The XBox resides next to the NES on the shelf below the TV.

i just figured that since you had to use some pressure to get the disc onto the spinner, that it would topple it unless you held it with another hand as a brace.

which defeats the purpose of the stand other than aesthetically, which its still ugly.

My Xbox is horizontal simply because that is the only spot that had room. If the only spot I had was vertical, it would be vertical.

I would like to take this moment to applaud the designers of modern day gaming consoles for thinking ahead and creating them in such a way as to provide us the ability to adapt the device to fit its context.

Is there any other way, really. :p

My Wii is vertical, but sometimes I wish it were horizontal.
