Video chat on 400mhz G3

    Hi all, just purchased pyro firewire webcam, and ichatusbcam, for a relative of mine hes on a 400 dv iMac, whats quality like on these machines when having video chats with each other, many thanks for giving your opinions

    Been there, done that !

    With a REALLY fast connection, it will work, but just barely. Expect some dropped/frozen frame delays on a regular basis.....

    processing live video takes ALOT of cpu horsepower, ram and bandwidth, none of which an iMac DV/400 has in abundance :)

    it works silky smooth on my 600MHz g3 ibook, steady 30fps, at worst your going to get 20fps, which is fine.
