I was just asked by a coworker to convert some training videos for him from VHS to DVD. The problem is I have no idea what to charge. I have done this before for friends and family and have usually done it for pretty cheap (around $25 or so + the cost of dvd's) So what do you think a fair price would be to charge him. I don't want to charge alot because I know I can get other work from people at work and I don't want to over charge but I don't want to get ripped off and put a ton of time into it and get nothing out of it.

    Thanks
    Jason

I have a couple questions before I could give you an estimate:

    1. How many VHS tapes are you going to convert?

    2. Do you want to give the co-worker a flat or hourly rate?

I don't know how many tapes he has, he said "a few". I don't know what would be best to charge him. Probably a flat rate + # of tapes + media costs.

I'd charge a flat rate of $50 + $5 per tape + the media. Very reasonable. Also, call a local editing company and get a quote from them. Gl!
