I know this is a long shot, but is it possible to upgrade the videocard on a C2D MBP? I look at disassembled pics but I can't actually locate the videocard visually, so I can't tell. I assume it can't be done.

    Can anybody confirm this?

There is no video card in any Mac aside from the Mac Pro and the 24" iMac. The rest have all the components from their stated video cards soldered onto or incorporated into the logic board. So no, unfortunately it cannot be done.

Possibly, it doesn't have much bandwidth though, only 1x I think.

Correct. For reference graphics cards normally go in 16x slots (that's times the bandwidth). They will operate with a slight penalty at 8x. At 1x it'd be so much slower than the on board chip (which is connected at 16x) it'd not be worth it!

Very well explained Robbie with the bandwidth concept. Thanks!
Cleared something up for me I've been unsure about for a while.
