TV series are replete with good villains (if you'll pardon the contradiction in terms). Arguably, the TV series structure serves villains well, since they get to plot and plan over and over again.

So who would you say is your favorite recurring TV villain, past or present? J. R. Ewing? Dr. Zachary Smith? Nina Myers? Baltar? The Cigarette Smoking Man?

My own favorite baddie is a guy named Mr. Morden. I've just been in the process of watching Babylon 5 from the beginning, and I was just marveling at what a slimy, evil, manipulative b*****d Morden is. He works for dark and ancient forces, starts interstallar wars, betrays the human race...and then says with a smile, "Looking back, I think I just tried to make people happy." Charming.

So who are your favorite baddies, and why?

Not a television bad guy, but Professor Moriarty from the Sherlock Holmes novels and stories.

Yeah, and he was an excellent villain on Star Trek: The Next Generation, episodes "Elementay, Dear Data" and "Ship in a Bottle". Sorry, I just had to prove what a geek I am ;).

    Q!!!!

But he was only quasi-evil. I love that character. I alway thought Picard had a stick shoved too far up his butt. Q had the knack of pushing his buttons just right to make him blow up. :D

The best scene in the world:
Q standing on the bridge playing a trumpet. dressed in some mexican/central american getup. Total gold! :D

If I had to pick another character it would be Bush. I mean every time I tune into this TV show called the "news" he's in the thick of it. No one likes him. He does things that evil masterminds would only do (Like installing a second appeals court judge by bypassing congress while congress is out of session for a holiday.) He's hated by millions if not billions. Yep Bush would be my second choice for my favorite villain

    Nice. :D

I might vote for Brain from Pinky and the Brain. Sure, he's the star of the show, but he's still evil.

Nina Meyers is a good one, too. Did anyone see the last episode of 24?

Sloan form Alias is also the kind you love to hate.

I loved those episodes, as well. It's the kind of thing that makes me wish that he had a larger role in the Sherlock Holmes series since he was such a great and balanced character with so much style and refinement.

Mulder used to call him Cancer Man. Officially, in the credits, he was billed as the Cigarette Smoking Man. Frankly, I like Cancer Man better myself.

My favorite bad guy has to be Dr. Claw from "Inspector Gadget".

He had that cool car that could convert into a plane, boat, submarine, or any other type of vehicle that he needed to make his escape. Plus he always had some cool hideout, and the techology was always state-of-the-art.

He had that crazy cat, and such a cool name for his criminal organization: MAD. Plus he had a metal hand!

Am I the only one out there who absolutely loves the character of Hannibal Lector from Silence of the Lambs? Talk about one of the best psychological roles ever.

My choice right now would be baby Stewie from "Family Guy". He's evil, manipulative, crass, and homicidal but so darn cute! :) The only one that can truly understand Stewie's evil intentions is Brian and for some reason he just dosen't say anything...hmm maybe then Brian is more evil than Stewie??
