these annoying popups keep telling me i have a virus and to call this 888 number.
is seems the pop ups ARE the virus in itself.. www.mro8.com
"apple.com-macsecurity.info"

how do i kill these parasites.

It's a scam. Go to Safari menu (At the very top right side of your screen next to Apple icon), choose "Quit Safari"

press "Shift" button and while holding this button on your keyboard single click on the Safari icon on your Dock.


Open Safari - Preferences - Privacy - Remove All Website Data.

Open Safari - Preferences - Privacy - Remove All Website Data.

Download and run this "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware", this is really good at rooting out these kinds of problems.

I would suggest both to be thorough
