vob to avi

i have been backing up all my dvd's with DVD backup, and i get vob chapters. But the files are huge - so i want to compress them in to 1 avi. is that possible?

Yes, and there are a number of programs on VersionTracker that'll do all the work for you. Do a search there and pick one you like.

i think handbrake is pretty good. it's very simple to use. all you do is pick the size you want your avi to be and it will take the dvd and turn it into an avi file. but you can't pick what chapters to do, it just does the whole movie

ffmpegx is your best best for converting .vob into .mpeg, .avi, or just about any other video format you can think of.
