After seeing the iMac Kitchen Project thread, i realised my kitchen would be perfect for this installation too - but then i read that you cannot mount the iSight iMacs, aside from the 24".

However, after doing a bit of digging, i found that it is just about possible to use the G5 VESA Adaptor, providing you are willing to open up your iMac and remove the stand yourself. And, although the bracket does not fit perfectly, apparently it is stable enough.

Now, i'm not overly keen on taking my iMac apart, let alone mounting it two foot above a worktop on a bracket that's just about stable, but i want to achieve a wall-mounted result somehow.

So does anyone know if the 24" iMac is wall-bracketed using the G5 Adaptor, or does it have it's own? If so, would that fit my iMac too? If it did, then at least i'd only have to worry about getting the stand off, safe in the knowledge that once it's on the wall, it won't be going anywhere.

Isn't there any kind of clamp which could grip around the top and bottom of the imac on both sides?.... Or something

only the Rev A & B iMac G5s and the 24" iMac can be wall mounted.

    Why is this exactly?
Why would Apple remove this feature?

they changed the case design slightly. made it curved in the back and a little thinner a believe. i suppose they didn't think the Vesa adapter was a huge hit, and such felt that this outweighed the cons.

Ah yes, I had forgotten about them changing the thickness.
I always thought the wallmounting was so cool, too. :(

I personally don't like wall-mounting, it can become constrictive.

how so? most of the Vesa mounts allow you a greater source of movement for the monitor/machine than its stand.

I can't say that I'm too keen on wall mounting, I think I would rather mount the iMac or monitor on an articulating arm attached to a desk, but that's just me.
