Hi everyone, hope you can help. Starting yesterday, when I come into work and turn on my 24" iMac (running 10.7.5), my desktop wallpaper image has reverted to the Apple swirling galaxy picture, and the three network drives I keep on the desktop have vanished. It's not a crisis; I just go "command + K" and I can put them back in a few seconds, but it hadn't ever happened before yesterday. Any ideas?

I'm a rolling stone.
Most likely Permissions problem, see if repairing permissions helps.

If settings in Finder or desktop are reset each time you login it is almost sure to be a permission problem.

Repairing permissions

Many thanks for the tip. I tried it yesterday, and it partially works. Now when I reboot the wallpaper stays, but the network drive icons on the desktop disappear. For some reason, I thought to put aliases of these, and when I restart they come back up. So, problem solved. Still not sure why it happened in the first place, but thanks again for the help.
