If you purchase something at the happle store during the Tax Free weekend, you have to pay sales tax if you get it with the education discount. It says it at the very bottom of the list for "The transaction does NOT qualify for the exemption if:"

Ok Now i am really confused what is this saying now?

One of them is saying Education discount doesn't count, then the other says it does count. Is this contradictory?

That is a bit confusing for me :/ it took me 4 times of reading it before i actually understood what it was saying.

this is just a pointless thread to remind people of the Tax free Weekend. -_-

No, they're both saying that you as an individual can take advantage of the offer but an institution can't.

There are two types of educational discount, the individual one applies to students and staff, the Institutional one applies to (surprise...!) Institutions, the institutional discount is much better, but can only be applied to stuff bought for the college/Uni, hence the "personal use" clause.

If you buy for yourself, you should get the discount and the tax break, but the discount won't be as good as the Uni one.

I still think you'd be better off going with the edu discount. After all, you're only saving 5% today and tomorrow.

They already discovered the obvious. Educational institutions do not get the discount while private individuals get both the educational discount as well as the tax break.

As always it's important to read the fine print. Seems tat sometimes it takes a lawyer to understand it all.

Uhh, I got that. I was saying its obviously better to take the edu discount over buying it without the discount to save the tax.

I don't think you understand it yet (and it doesn't matter, because the holiday is over now! :p). You get both discounts as a normal student or teacher!
