well my macbook is completely fine but sometimes not all the times when i have my macbook sleeping and i wake it up by opening up the lid of course...about 2-3 seconds after, a sand'ish sounding audio appears and goes away after a second. its so hard to explain but it sounds as if the audio is waking up too and it sounds like a peice of paper is being teared gently.

    this happends to any1 else?

I don't think it just "sounds as if the audio is waking up too", I believe that's what's happening. My 1st gen MBP does that as well, and I'm pretty sure it's the system restoring power to the audio circuitry, which briefly causes a bit of static on the speakers.

Something vaguely similar actually used to happen on my G5 tower when the audio output would be "napping"--it'd hiss a bit as it kicked back in.

Weird, I have a first gen MacBook and this doesn't happen to me. I just get the sound of the CD drive trying to eject a disc. That's it.

If it's what I think it is, this is normal.
It's the SuperDrive checking for discs.

For reference, mine does this too, and it's of course also normal. It isn't the same sound, though--the drive makes a "buzz-click" sound, while the audio just goes "hiss" for a second.

I just noticed mine does this too! It's definitely not the SuperDrive -- it comes after the drive has run its check, and the brief (only about .25 of a second) sound definitely comes out of the speakers.

There was a thread on this a while back, and I have the sound too on my CD 2.0GHz MacBook, but we never figured out exactly why it does that.

I see.. so this is a MB only issue? The only 2 MBs I've had in my hands are now about 750 miles away.

My MBP does this too... I'm not worried about it, as it sounds like the SuperDrive is either looking for a disc or trying to eject one that's in there. Completely normal, but a little disconcerting the first time you hear it.

They seem to be indicating that it's a sound different from that one.
