What app or apps do I need for text

Hi,

I need to save PDF peer reviewed journal articles but good reader won't what can I do?
I need to be able to search those for text and ideally saved HTML too.

Also I would really like to have all the written documents from online journals or websites in one format or viewer, which allows me to search for text as well as select it and copy. Or any app that searches and copies from these sort of pages, ideally without needing an Internet connection. I prefer not switching between iPad and MacBook but it's ok.

Hi thanks that's great except no Athens capability? Is there anything that can save articles accessed through Athens? Also i don't seem able to search for text in a file..?
