What application for you use to back up your important information/files on your Mac? I was thinking about just using Roxio Toast and dragging and dropping the files onto a new project and then burning it to a CD or DVD.

I'm a simple man...I just do periodic home folder backups to DVD. I just drag my stuff to a new burn folder and burn from Finder.

Some day I'll get an external drive...one of these days, one of these days...

    I've heard iBackup is good.
It copies everything, so you can actually use the data of the target disk to do stuff.
    Try searching for it. ;)

For just normal back ups of files, and music/movies I use Toast.

But for a home folder, boot backup, superduper, or apple's back up

I didn't even release the capability of Déjà Vu until about two seconds ago. It came with Toast 6. Awesome. I just set up a scheduled back up each month. That was easy. :)

I used to use that but it was slow as anything to restore anything so I switched to Déjà Vu

Since no-one has mentioned it yet: LaCie SilverKeeper is really ugly, but seems to do the job very well... and you cannot beat the price, either... :)
