Is there any way to intellihide the dock like you can with Docky in a Linux OS? I usually like my dock to be large and always visible but at the same time I don't like it when a window obstructs my dock. (and yes, i know you can hide the dock, but I want it to intelligently hide)

Right-click on the dashed divider on the Dock and select "Turn Hiding On". That's the only option available.

I have developed an application (mainly using AppleScript) that does this, or at least very close to what you want: https://github.com/gjherbiet/DockIntellihide.app

Please try it and send me back comments so I can further improve it.
Thanks in advance.

Works wonderfully, so far. Thanks!

EDIT: Launchpad doesn't work with this tweak enabled. The dock tries to unhide and launchpad doesn't work.

You are right. This happens when the dock is hidden and Launchpad is started (which I never thought of testing). I'll try to fix that soon.

Please let me know if you have a problem with this little tool, I'll try to fix it (whenever possible, and provided I have some spare time). And if you have a github account, please open an issue ticket here : https://github.com/gjherbiet/DockIntellihide.app/issues
