You're going to have to be a LOT more specific. What one person finds as a must have, many others won't.

What do you like/ want to do?

Regardless of how great Apples app store is this is my most used app list.

    Facebook
    Instagram
    Google maps
    Tapatalk
    Pandora
    Dropbox
    Weather Channel

Everything else I use native Apple apps. Calculator, maps, safari, mail, messages, clock (alarm), camera.

I have quite a few apps but nothing I'd consider must have. Things like Netflix, Pizza Hut app, Amazon and stuff like that I use but not that often...

Tweetbot - Imo, the most robust twitter app out there.
Newsify - If you use RSS feeds to read your daily news from various sites, this is a great app for that.
Google Currents - Another news app, it just got updated a few days ago, and flows very well (better than flipboard imo, however it has overlap with Newsify).

These are some of my tech feeds, to give you an idea (I need to tidy these up, I have some overlap). One thing I recommend is using Google Reader to manage your subscriptions, and this way you can just hook up that account on Newsify. You'll be all synced up and happy after that :)
