I am sooooooooooo bored! So...I changed my mail sounds.

My new message sound is Mr Smithers saying "Excellent!". My junk mail sound is luke skywalker saying "What a load of Junk!".

If you need new sounds, check out this site. They've got a few good ones.

What are your sounds? I bet there are some good ones out there.

Ever since the days of AOL 2.5?, my new mail sound has always been:

*THWANG!* Mmmmessage for you, sir... *THUD!*

From Monty Python's Holy Grail, of course. :)

    *beepbeep* Mail.....!

My mail sound has been the new mail sound from the movie Eurotrip..."*beepbeep* Mail <insert expletive here>" My roommates are now conditioned to yell out "Mail <insert expletive here>!" when they hear the beeping sound :D

    *BUMP!*

C'mon, NO ONE else out there has any interesting mail sounds? What about system sounds in general? Alert sounds, startup sounds, etc.

Mine is just the default with Entourage. Although I seldom have my speakers turned on.

Mine doesn't make any sounds at all. I once was recording something important through my audio output jacks for a client and I had mail open. Every 5 minutes, I was wondering why this sound kept popping up. Then I realize Mail was open and the chime was being transfered to my audio recording. Since the recording was a one time deal, it taught me a lesson I will never forget.

Couldn't you have just re-recored it again?

I use the Japanese version of "Lain has new mail" located here.

I suppose I could use the other "Lain has no new mail" and the like for the other sounds but really all I care about is when I have new mail so...

Since I only use Gmail now, I have GmailStatus set to play this (NSFW).

It's from Eurotrip, made me crease up when I heard it :D

(Put aiff in /System/Library/Sounds, then restart GmailStatus if you want to do the same ;))

I've made some rules, so that I get this one when I get mail on my school account(s), and another for my "personal" account...

Edit: I would have used this one if I had an answering machine (or answering service with my cell phone operator).

My Mail alerts me with sounds from Aliens – the 'LV426' sound set from Pixelhuset. The set's klaxon sound is used for my main system alert.

DO these custom sounds have to be in any particular format?

System Sounds have to be aif(f), but I got Mail sounds in both aiff and wav...

Edit: Must have been beaten by seconds there... shouldn't have added that about the System Sounds... :p

I like the classic "Hello Newman" from Seinfeld. Don't remember where I first got it.
