I've just bought a new ibook G$ in the UK.

it has the normal processor for the 14.1 inch version.

    1G RAM, 100G Hard Drive.

Everything else is the standard for the ibook that you'd get.

After looking at games in shops, most don't mention wether or not you can play them on apple mac's, and most of the games in the apple store in the UK seem to say I don't have a fast enough laptop.

I'm looking at action games like DOOM 3, etc. Can I get this for my laptop, if so, where from? If not, why?

    Thanks, James

also, I'm looking at games like Civilisation and Age of Empires.

Would there system requirements be lower, and the therefore more suitable to my laptop?

    Thanks again!

oh, and while I think of it, are there separate, specific versions you can buy of certain games.

For example, when buying Doom 3, on the back it harps on about requirements for a windows based PC, would this still work on a Mac, or do you have to purchase a game thats designed specifically for a Mac?

You won't be able to run Doom 3 on an iBook in any way shape or form that anyone could call "playable."

PC and Mac games have totally different codes - a PC game won't run on a Mac and vice versa. You need to buy the Mac version.

Have a good look around in the software section of Apple's website and look at the system requirements for the games. An iBook won't be able to run all that much, they're designed for students with basic needs - not as super duper gaming rigs.
