My 17'' StudioDisplay just lost its back light on the upper half of my screen. there are tons of people reporting this issue and now I want to buy another LCD.

there used to be a thread about the 20'' Dell LCD for 350- but when i search DELL LCD i get no results??? eek!

so if not only the Dell, what are some other good LCDs that are in widescreen format, for cheap?

Also, I dont know how to check if my graphics card can support higher resolutions than 1280x1024..

To find the dell threads, try searching for 2005fpw.

I'm 99% sure it will. the question is how well.

what video card is it? judging by your sig, you either have a 2002 quicksilver, or a 2002 mdd. if the former you would have had a 64MB geforce mx 440 or titanium, if the latter, you'd have a 64MB radeon 9000. am I right?
any of those should handle it fine, but you may want to consider an upgrade if you need/want any good performence out of it ;)

your never going to notice a difference in word and for internet, but, photoshop is going to be slow enough to bug you a little and you are going to want to shoot yourself during video editing.

there really isn't much difference between those two video cards, but if you want to know, hit the apple on your menu bar, about this mac, then click on more info, then in the menu on the left, select graphics/displays and that will tell you all you need to know.

i would recommend an upgrade if you have the $$, you can get something considerably better for only $100-150 if you know where to look. I managed to score a 6600GT for my pc for only $170 at the begining of the year off of newegg.

Your video card is fine. I'm running my 2005fpw on a radeon 8500 64mb card and I can play counter-strike fine. PS and web surfing is fine too.
