The Genius lists in my iPhone are definitely not as good as the one in iTunes. I have less than 1000 in my phone, but close to 5000 in iTunes, so it only makes sense.

And I'm more prone to get the "can't make a list" error on my phone, because it's full of songs and genres that the Genius doesn't look at. :(

Like I said, room for improvement, but still a lot of fun and really impressive.

I agree its a lot of fun and impressive, be nice to know how it works out what songs to link together

will try it out on my phone later on to se how it works, listen to this a lot in the car, so getting a different playlist each time could be really good

I like the feature. Simple to use and pretty much captures the mood of the moment.

Im really liking this new feature, the songs do sound great together, good job apple!

One thing i did just notice though, i see alot of the same artists more than once, i have over 300 bands in my library, most of them being from the same music genre, i think the playlists could be better, but still pretty good!

YAY!!!

Keep updating your Genius, people! I've been updating every day, and trying at least one classical and musical song every day to see if it would work. Well, it just did.

Absolutely needs work, but up until tonight, it couldn't even try, so I'm happy with this first effort.

Unfortunately, no classical yet. :(

Okay, and here's the absolutely worst playlist it's done for me so far:

Source Song: My Last Words Megadeth
Would Alice in Chains
San Jacinto Peter Gabriel
Beck's Bolero Jeff Beck
It Prince
All Revved Up With No Place To Go Meat Loaf
Carolina Blues Blues Traveler
Hard Day (Shep Pettibone Remix) George Michael

Bump!!! I've been playing around with Genius this afternoon and reading through some of the threads when this one came up. I have a fairly robust classical selection on my computer (>2500 tracks) that are pretty well tagged (which can be a dicey thing with classical tracks... e.g. who's the artist vs composer vs performing ensemble vs conductor vs album markings).

I've had a surprisingly hard time getting Genius to recognize my tracks. But here's one that it liked enough to build a playlist:

Source Song: Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, 1st Movement - Leonard Bernstein conducting the New York Philharmonic

Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 8 - Emerson String Quartet
Philip Glass' String Quartet 5, Mvt 2 - Kronos Quartet
Shostakovich's Quintet in G minor - Yefim Bronfman with the Julliard String Quartet
Philip Glass' Violin Concerto, Mvt 1 - Adele Anthony
Dvorak's Symphony No. 8, Mvt 3 - Berlin Philharmonic
Shubert Quintet in C major, Scherzo - Rostropovich and Emerson String Quartet
Bach' Brandenburg Concerto No. 6, Mvt 1 - Neville Marriner
Prokofiev Lt. Kije Suit, Mvt 2 - Chicago Symphony Orchestra
Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 , Mvt 3 - Herbery Von Karajan and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra
Dvorak's "American" String Quartet, Mvt 4 - Amadeus Quartet
Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, Mvt 3 - Itzhak Perlman

An interesting mix, I'm not sure that it is how I would organize a list though.
