I am looking for a good but inexpensiver laser printer that works on macs,
I am not to worried about speed, just price per page. I have been using my espon C6X series printers to print my drafts of text and it is just a waste of expensive inkjet ink, since all I need is black ink on plain white paper.
Any recommendations?

The more you pay for the printer, the lower the price per page.

Since the bigger printers generally use the larger cartridges with the lower cost per page -- yet those cartridges can cost more than the $99-199 laser printers.

How much do you print?

How often do you want to change the cartridge?

How much do you want to pay for a cartridge?

and most importantly

How easy do you want the cartridge purchase? For sale locally? 24hrs day? or only mail order?

Usually I'd tell people to download the HP Compatibility Matrix

Take a look at the cartridges, how much they want to pay for them, how long they last and how easy they are to get -- then look at the printers.

Then make the comprimise on price per page, etc. based on price of the printer.

And if you don't want an HP -- you'll at least be able to shift horizontally to a similar printer from someone else.
