I downloaded an application on my MacBook that would scan my hard drive because my memory was running low, and I found that an iDisk Sparse Bundle that I unknowingly created a year ago is eating up 55 GB of my memory. Does anyone know what it is, and if so, is it OK if I delete it without messing up my MacBook?

This is what your MobileMe / .Mac iDisk uses to sync with the online service.

Its the offline file to your iDisk. Basically it allows you to save to your iDisk even when your offline. When you go online, the offline disk will sync with the online one.

Don't delete the file. Rather turn off it off:

    System Preferences–>MobileMe–>iDisk

Bottom where it says syncing, turn it off.

Well I got a .Mac free trial account a while ago, and it expired already. So since I have no use for the file I just deleted it.
