This will be the last favorite thread I do, but after listening to itunes its time to ask the question of what is your favorite album of all time. For me it is what i think is by far the best album in history, Pink Floyd's The Wall. Now if you dont have an all-time favorite than what are you currently listening to now. but please no Outcast. Personally I like the new Nickelback.

My favorite album all time is The Clash - London Calling, but a close second is Operation Ivy - Engergy and Weezer - Pinkerton, and Radiohead - Kid A is probably right after those 2.

I have widely varying tastes. Yesterday, I listened to a CD of Gregorian Chants. Now I'm listening to MxPx's At The Show. Nice punk rawk.

Good choices, all of 'em. Mezzanine is a vanguard album, IMHO.

    That said, here's my five:

    1. The Cure - Disintingration; Pet Sounds production for 80's kids.
    2. The Smiths - The Queen is Dead; Defining album of the 80's as far as songwriting goes.
    3. Stereolab - Mars Audiac Quintet; The Smith's fan's new age music. Hehe.
    4. Massive Attack - Mezzanine; Pulling Liz Fraser out of retirement = brilliant move
    5. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless; Easily the BEST album of the 90s.

There is no such thing as a best album ever, it's like have the best painting, or best dinosaur or best kitchen untensil.

But despite saying that here are a list of albums I have strong positive feelings for:

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
    Frank Zappa - Hot Rats
    The Beatles - Rubber Soul
Velvet Underground & Nico - Velvet Underground & Nico
Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica
Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks

Wait a second.... we're not allowed to like Outkast but you can like Nickelback? Nickelback might be one of the worst bands EVER!

    hehe

I was going to point that out, but chose to refrain - particularly when you look at the rather clichéd list of albums I suggested.

Problem is that 'Best ofs' must stand the test of time, and what's good around today, and there is plenty of good phat sounds that beats my drums out there, will be rather lame in a couple of years time, and all-out embarrassing in about 5.

I got into rock'n roll kind of late. My parents listened to Kenny Rogers, Forest Whittaker, and Neil Diamond so I was thrilled to finally discover Led Zeppelin in my early teens. Then Metallica and Guns and Roses. It went on from there.
Loved the Grunge era. My favorite album from that era in the '90s was Temple of the Dog. Great Album before there was ever Pearl Jam or SoundGarden.
Rock is kind of lame nowadays. I think Nickeback is a good band. Nothing great. I liked Days of the New and the current band Tantric. Different sound.
Alice in Chains though in my opinion was THE epitome of Grunge. The greatest Grunge band that there was in my opinion. I have their greatest hits compilation and listen to it regularly in my car. Nothing like cranking "Man in the Box" on a sunny day and just cruising. Feel like a total young punk again.

in defense of Outkast, i thought stankonia was rather innovative -- and let's not forget, they are two-time grammy winners. (and yes, i know winning a grammy doesn't mean you are objectively 'the best,' but they've gotta count for something.) 'hey ya,' however, is way overplayed and not even the best track on the album.
