As a sister thread to the "What is your favorite console and why?" thread I thought this would be fun too!

Mine would have to be The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

I was looking forward to this game and it is the reason I bought my N64. I loved A Link to the Past and had high hopes for the first 3D zelda.

I was definitely not let down, the game amazed and challenged me all the way through, I love it! The game had you do things that previously I wouldn't have even considered needing to do in a game. My entire family watched/helped me play for seven hours straight right after I bought it.

I recall being in the first dungeon and being locked in a room not knowing how to get out. Everyone kept suggesting that I take a stick, light it on fire, and then light another torch. I spouted off at them "This is a GAME, you don't do thinks like that in GAMES... things can't just Catch on Fire!" ... and to my surprise I was totally wrong!

    What about everyone else?

I think if I would have to pick only one, it would be Star Control II.

I loved the huge universe to explore. There was literally thousands
of planets and moons to search for resources and alien technology.
Building up your ship and fleet was nice. Every ship had it's strength
and weakness and it was fun to try to use these to your advantage.
The storyline was great. All the alien species were unique and
colorful. The game was very open ended with many different ways
to reach the end. Some events happened even if you weren't doing
anything. This game was also hilarious. The Vux and Spathi were so
funny. The music soundtrack was way ahead of it's time and I've
rarely seen it's equal since (Except maybe FFVI and Actraiser).

    NICE!

if youa re talking video game i would have to say BASEBALL STARS for NES. Has anyone played this game!!!? Aside fromt the fact that two of the teams are supremely dominant to the rest on the game it is wonderful...... lets face it though..... I am a from KC and am a lifer Royals fan...... every team feels supremely dominant so it is a realistic game for me.

Master of Orion II, although it doesn't work properly in Classic. I wish Atari (or whatever they are now called) would open-source it and allow someone to Carbonise the code.

I like Oolite too. Nice development of a classic from the 80s.

At the moment Pacific Fighters, Just isnt nothing like flying your favorite war bird against other famous warbirds of WW2. Want a challange land your plane on a carrier or go against a enemy who outnumbers you. Pacific Fighters has so many planes available its just a lot of fun to be able to fly the different machines.

as my family always had a mac in the house for my dad and mom's work, and they thought game consoles were a waste of time, most of my gaming has been on a mac. these are some of my old and newer favorites:

    space station pharos
    Lode Runner
    Scarab of Ra
    Sim City Classic and 2000
    Sim Ant
    Warcraft
    the Myst series
    Age of Empires
    Giants: Citizen Kabuto
    Jedi Knight II
    Return to Castle Wolfenstein
    Max Payne

but I did occasionally play console games at a friend's house:

    Super Mario World
    Donkeykong Country
    Jurassic Park
    Mario Kart
    Sonic 1,2,3
    Super Mario 64
    Mario Kart 64
    Banjo Kazooie
Grand Theft Auto 1,2,Vice City, San Andreas (all on a friend's PC, actually)
    Halo

I would have to go with Super Monkey Ball

I liked both 1 and 2, but the golf game really sucked on 2 and that was probably my favorite mini-game on 1. Though the new monkey bowling was nice(too bad they don't have courses like that in real life :p)

At the moment Elders Scrolls IV: Oblivion all time that is a hard one but probably Street Fighter Zero. An interesting mix! :D _BUT_ I'm still playing Advent (Colossal Cave) many many decades after it was first made so I might say Advent.

My current favorite game is World of Warcraft. There is so much depth and content, you can spend months playing this game and still be discovering new things about it. Favorite game from years back would be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game for NES. :D I played this with my dad a lot and beat it quite often, like several times a week.

    Oblivion xbox 360

Oblivion is the best game I have ever played. I know that everyone hates Bill Gates but this game for the 360 is the best ever. It is way more open ended than any grand theft auto game. I have been playing side quests for 50 hours and have only spent 10 on the main mission. Of course the graphics are great but everything else is perfect also. I guess you could play the game for 500 hours if your completed everything in the game. Best value for your money.

Nothing has compared to the rush I got playing the oringinal Doom when it first came out. More recently, I think Animal Crossing is pretty amazing.

Super Mario All Stars for the SNES. It had Super Mario 1, 2, 3, and the Japanese version of Mario 2 called The Lost Levels. It had game save, 16 bit graphics, updated sound. It's superb. Some versions have Super Mario World added as well. It's all the Mario you need! :D
