That would be Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Chris Martin from Coldplay. They named their daughter Apple Blythe Alison Martin.

What great parents. We think that this name might ruin his life, but we don't want to change it, it's on his birth certificate. That's the intelligent way to handle the situation.

I remember running across an online library catalog search system run by a consortium of Wisconsin libraries, with the name MORE online. Sure, it sounds fine when you read it, but if you hear it spoken it sure sounds like "Moron Line". Maybe that's why the domain name moreonline.com was never taken.

Better than Hercules Garfunkel. Yes, someone I once went to school with had that name.

It's so pretentious for famous people to give their kids weird names just because they're famous.

I'd give my child a name that doesn't suck. It wouldn't be a very common name, but I wouldn't aim for weird.

And when I heard that Chris Martin's daughter was named "Apple", I became slightly less impressed with him (although I'm still a huge fan).

I don't care how many papers have "Drew Peacock" on them -- they need to change his name right now!

He is going to be teased. Mercilessly.

personally i'll never read The Scum again.

on a different note, they're from Bedford, like me! the only other news about Bedford was that 11yr old kid who got his 16yr old neighbour pregnant, remember that????
oh, and Paula Radcliffe comes from (just outside) there too.

their last name is Peacock, i'm just wondering if they're part of the Peacock's Auction House in Bedford.....

So, this couple is worried about their child being teased because of his unfortunate name, but they refuse to change it because it's "on his birth certificate and other documents". Hello? It's fairly easy to change the baby's name, you know! And these people are going to raise this child and care for it?

As for "Apple" (Gwyneth P's daughter), I think it's quite a cute name. It's grown on me since the news broke.

If it was a girl, they could have named it "Flo" - Flo Peacock...

I remember some of the good names that made the rounds shortly after July 19, 1969. (The Apollo 11 moon landing for those that don't have the sense of history)

Lunar Module McGee (McGee being a rather well known news anchor).
After Apollo 15 came a 'Rover'.

And then there was my black wife 'threatening' to name our son Kunta Kinte Kingsley. I said 'Yeah, right. That's exactly what this world needs, a little black boy with the initials K. K. K.'. She didn't name him that.

Had a kid at my school named Richard Head. How do you do this to a child?

Referring to a quote by Arnold Schwarzenegger at the Republican National Convention about Democrat "girlie men", which was a play on the old Saturday Night Live skit based on him as a body builder. "We will PUMP you UP!"
