This may seem weird, but I am just thinking about what I should go eat. I have $10, no food in the house. Any ideas? Mine are...

    Togos Daily Sub (Mediterranean Chicken)
    Taco Shop (big burrito)

Thats all I can think of

A large homemade Chili con carne is always good. Specially in summer when it's hot outside... :)

I had an ice cream sandwich for lunch. I drank too much coffee this morning and it upset my stomach.

    Have a burrito.

I love sit-down restaurants, therefore I have practically memorized the qualifying "lunch special" times for my favorite places. I can easily get Thai, Malaysian, really juicy-so-tender-the-meat-falls-off-the-bone ribs, pho (Vietnamese noodles), gourmet salads, sandwhiches, burritos, etc. all for $10 and under (per dish mind you! Not all of that for $10, ha).

Go to Safeway and buy a cup of Ramen for 50 cents.

Use your $9.50 on something good. Go rent a movie.

Depends... How long does that $10 have to last you? Through lunch? Or through the rest of the week?

I agree. There's nothing filling and cheap like Ramen. Believe you can get 10 for $1 somewhere.

    I love that dollar store!!!!

Or you could get a bag of salad.

But seeing as how you have probably eaten by now, this post is just dollar store and bagged salad love. :)

sometimes the local safeway and albertsons run specials where ramen is 24 for a dollar. I load up when they run that one. A little beef flavotred maruchan ramen with some cholula hot sauce thrown in, and I'm good to go. Add tofu (also cheap) if feeling like you need somethig vaguely nutritious.

for 10 bucks you can get 20 tacos at jack in the box! hmmmm, those are good.

you can get a 10 pack of frozen bean and chees burritos for like 3 bucks at the grocery store. Great "I have nothing in my house" kind of food.

And of course, if there's anywhere cool and local, you could probablyg et a rpetty decent meal for 10 bucks at a small restaurant.

    And don't forget...MSG (mono sodium glutamate) !!! :D

Actually, Spam and rice is also very good, though I don't really want to know the ingredients for Spam (please, don't tell me).

It's really not that bad. Spice, ham, and animal renderings. Gives it some kick.

Is it wrong that I've been craving ramen for a day now? like, actually craving? i haven't had it since high school, and now this thread comes along... goddamn it, i'm going to go get me some ramen. I'll pay with change to pretend i'm still poor.

so what was the final verdict? buritto? two burittos?

I ended up getting the Super Burrito at this good mexican taco shop down here. It had:

    Carni Asada (fresh cooked)
    Beans/Rice
    Lettuce, Tomato, Onion
    Guacamole, Sour Creame

All stacked into a huge tortilla. with some of their spicy hot sauce, made out for a nice lunch. Costs $6, had $4 left heh.
