What type of touch screen does the iPhone use?

What are the names of the different touch screens? The iPhone uses one that is only sensitive to the fingertip and not the nail whereas phones like the Nokia 5800 are sensitive to nail and finger touch. I want to know which one the new HTC Hero uses because I prefer the responsiveness of the screen the iPhone uses.

Capacitive - responsive to finger (iPhone)
Resistive - responsive to finger nail or stylus

Capactive is better on phones with big screens. Resistive is better on phones with small screens.

PS. Go SU! I grew up in the 'cuse and have been a fan my whole life.
