I want to install windows on my macbook but i'm unsure what I should be looking for. Do I need an Oem copy of windows? and will vista or Xp work better with bootcamp.

I realise this has probably been asked before so i'm sorry.

Simply put - if you want to use Boot Camp, get Windows XP SP2. Vista isn't fully supported in Boot Camp yet. Either Home or Professional will work - get the edition that meets your needs the best.

If Windows Vista WAS fully supported in Boot Camp, I'd recommend you get that instead. Said support will hopefully come when Leopard's released.

    No any version will do.

OEM, Retail or even UPGRADE (as long as you have a suitable disk to show it during install).

If you get an OEM copy, the license is only good for the first machine you install it on and that machine only. Microsoft will not let you install it on a different machine if you change your computer, even if you've removed it from the original machine.

If you buy a retail copy, Microsoft will let you move the OS from machine to machine, although it may only be installed on one machine at a time. The software can also be legally sold/transferred once from the original owner to a second owner.

Since an XP installation requires activation through Microsoft, I think it's a good idea to buy a retail copy since the license is more flexible.

If you decide to buy XP, make sure it's XP w/SP2 integrated (i.e. on a single disc).

DO NOT get Vista yet. Wait for about a year befor you get it. This way, you will be able to see what bugs and glitches it has.
