What do you guys develop around?

Right now I have an iMac, but I'm considering buying a Macbook or Mac Book Pro and then selling my iMac, and then also getting a large display 24" or 30" (depending whether I go macbook or mac book pro). If anyone would like to give me feedback regarding this dilemma, that would be great.

I don't think it matters much what kind of computer you use for development. I don't see the point of selling your iMac. However, I would say that a core duo computer is nice for compiling. A big screen is also nice. But my advice is to let my decision for a computer depend on other factors than coding.

You can write code in anything. My first Mac (which I used to learn Cocoa) was an iBook with an 800x600 screen. It was torture but you learned to live with the lack of screen real estate. I currently have a MBP which is awesome :D

I use a Powerbook. During the day it's hooked up to a 2nd display and keyboard and mouse. When I go home I take the laptop with me and just use it on its own. This setup works well for me because I need a Mac in two places and I'm waiting for the next round of updates to the iMac. If you're in a similar position, ie you need a laptop then I would imagine that either of the setups you're considering would be very nice. Bear in mind that the 3D graphics of the Macbook aren't too good, so if you want to develop OpenGL apps then the Macbook Pro is the one to get. Also for the price of a Macbook Pro and a 30" screen I would be tempted to get a MacPro and two 24" screens…
