Ugh, I hope this is within the forum rules, if not, just Wasteland it..

Where do people here download music videos? Kazaa sucks but its the most varied from what I've tried, the streaming videos from the artists's web sites are of the purest crap...so where do you go to get them?

kazaa. I have had great luck when it comes to music videos on kazaa. But I listen to mainstream music... usually. Limewire would probably be the best alternative to kazaa, but I'm no expert.

Yeah, Kazaa's good for a lot of the mainstream stuff I guess, but not for a lot of what I listen to, a lot of the videos I'm looking for come from artists that are sort of inbetween mainstream and underground so I can sometimes find videos and I sometimes can't..

I dunno, the gnutella network and the fasttrack network have a bunch of files. Same with hotline servers and that other one I can't remember [IMG]. But if you don't have any luck with Limewire and Kazaa I think there would only be a small chance of finding it anywhere else. :(

    But good luck.

In terms of Mac P2P, I feel XNap and Limewire have the best bets.

For some reason the unstable and bogged XNap gets me a lot of music videos...more than usual, and some that would cause me to find my breakfast somewhere other than in my stomach... [IMG] [IMG]

Some musicians have video on their own websites. I've downloaded a Nanci Griffith one from hers, but then she is a bit mainstream.

I know for a fact that the PC version of Kazaa had similar distrubution (such as SETI and folding) software with them.
It is hidden inside the Kazaa app.

I'm not sure about X but if your processor seems booked up, open up process viewer and look for some high CPU hungry things.

I use LimeWire, which to be frank, has a crappy GUI.

Since the article that came out, Kazaa removed it and posted this on their site:

have a look on http://launch.yahoo.com if you haven't already - they have a load of obscure stuff on there and i think you can probably rip the vids out of the embedded players (can't remember the name of the mac app).

Actually - does launch work on macs? uses WMP on Windows - not tried on my iBook

Do you use Neo client for Kazaa in OS X?

    Dear Chris.

I just installed the necessary MLdonkey components...I've never seen so many files.

The hell with Limewire and Acquisition in terms of files.

Yes, it's tough to set up, but it's doable. And once you do, you have files available that you never thought existed.

If you are going to try using MLdonkey, read all the ReadMe files carefully. I got stuck a few times by reading them too quickly.

The only way download anything decent on the mac is through the newsgroups provided your isp offers access to them. You can download literally anything from music, movies, to software. The best newsreader for osx is called Thoth. Downloading from the groups is so good that I don't even bother with limewire, neo and acquistion and the like.
