Hello all.

I will be receiving my mac mini within a few days (probably this tuesday...jay!)
and am looking for a good fast harddisk to replace the one it has standard inside (40gb). Does anybody from europe know a site where to order for a competitive price? The ones I checked in the netherlands are all much more expensive then their usa counterparts but i can't order from there.
Or should I try buying one from ebay?

i'm in the same boat as you, i got the 40gb and quickly realised i wanted more space.

i'm in the uk, and so far i've found http://www.ebuyer.com stocks 2.5" (laptop) drives, that are reasonable. try looking for large computer ecommerce sites in your country (maybe http://www.kelkoo.com can help you).

just stay away from western digital.. they are nasty drives - i've owned 2 and they both failed on me. my personal favorite is maxtorr but i dont believe they manufacture 2.5" drives.

congratulations on your purchase.. you will love it :)

thanks pulsewidth...yes 40 GB will be enough for a while but I want to upgrade it soon. ebuyer.com is a good site but prices are still a lot higher then ebay / usa. I'll probably go for ebay when the time is right :)

Yeah scan look pretty good. Does anyone know who manufacture the original drives in the Mini?

I'm kind of wishing i'd have just bought the 1.42 80GB mini now! Well only for the hd. 1.25GHz is plenty fast enough right now :)

Seagate Momentus 5400 is the drive used in the mini 40GB if I'm not mistaken.
That scan looks pretty good yes, thanks for that info robbie. I'll keep an eye out when prices there come within my reach!

Yeah i didnt realise 2.5" hds were so expensive. For the price of 1x 100gb 4200 rpm, i can get 2x 120GB 7200 drives :D

I'm seriously considering either buying a LaCie external, or just a 3.5" enclosure and a cheap 150-200GB drive. Those Porsche externals are really sweet.. i think they'd compliment the mini nicely.
