I'm looking to upgrade my Mini in the next few weeks with a Core 2 Duo processor, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to buy one relatively inexpensively (that also is reputable and has a decent return policy!). I'm looking at the 2.0Ghz or above. Newegg has the 2.0Ghz (T7200) for $295, which doesn't seem that bad, but I'm sure someone here knows where I can do better!

Actually, I'm finding the T5600 (1.86Ghz) for $235. That's a little over $50 cheaper than the cheapest 7200. Perhaps I should go that route? Is the 0.14Ghz more worth $50-$60 more? Keep in mind, I'm upgrading from a 1.5Ghz Core Solo here.

Most people here would say that the 4 MB of cache is worth more then the MHz.

i know, i was just warning just in case he saw somethin else on the cheap and almost got it instead.
I think the OP already knows to look for Merom.

And as always.

I couldn't get the second eye in the right postion and the right hand isn't working as described.
Had to paste it.

Even so this is most definitely a worthwhile tutorial thread :D

Not to go off topic, but could I possibly drop a 2.33 Core 2 Duo Merom in my 20" iMac to replace the 2.0 Core Duo? Has anybody done this yet?

Yeah, I believe it's already been done, someone posted about it on this forum a few months back. They then sold the original Core Duo in the Marketplace, so you might wanna look there for the thread, since they linked to how they did it there, too.

Thanks. I'll do a search for it.
