I am looking for stores/sites that you, the MR community know of...where to buy 1st (and maybe even 2nd) generation iPod Nanos.

I HAD an ipod nano (1st gen 1gb) which would be perfect for what I have in mind (nike+), but I sold it to a friend when I got my iPod Classic when it first came out. He has since then given it to his brother as a birthday present, so it's gone. :(

So I'm looking for a place to buy a cheap 1st or 2nd gen ipod nano. Doesn't need alot of storage space (1gb is fine).

PS. I have had bad experiences with ebay (myself and my brother) and I would like to steer clear of that if possible.

I know you can find them in the Amazon marketplace, though most or all of those will be used (not sure if this is an issue). Just search for iPod on Amazon, find one you might want, and click on the "Used and new" link to see what's available.

I think Amazon also occasionally carries stock of brand new older-gen iPods, but often they're priced higher than current iPods, sometimes by quite a lot. I guess collectors buy them?

You can also look at the Apple refurb store to get a nice deal on a current model. Sometimes they have older models, but those seem to be gone now.

if he was a regular, but he's not so he can't. He could browse the marketplace and probably find one in ten minutes though.

It's not specific to Apple but you can try Craigslist, too. People are always moving iPods there and I think you could post a wanted add as well? (I'm not versed in Craigslist that deeply, though i have had 2 successful iPod transactions through it :))

    are they just nanos?

cuz I'm looking for a really ancient iPod to replace my nano. I only want the memory and a clickwheel so I thought old was the cheapest way forward.
