I dunno, but I think it involves monkeys and duct tape.

I was wondering as well and figured that perhaps a mod deleted it due to some violation.

It seems it was deleted -- I was looking for it myself... Anybody care to explain?

It works for me. I think I know why it's doing it, though.

I'll talk to arn about it...

It seems to me that you could post one of your beautiful desktop pictures here. Why not have fun while we wait! ;)

Agreed. Go ahead and continue the thread here until things get sorted out, then we can merge them later.

Forgive me for asking a dumb question, but I'm serious in asking. I'm asking in this off-shoot thread instead of the main March desktop thread in order to hide my shame, while still hoping somebody will answer.

I don't understand the purpose of the monthly desktop threads. Aren't most of the posts simply somebody's icons and dock on top of an image they found somewhere? Couldn't they just post the URL of the image instead?

If that's all it is, that's fine with me, just not of particular interest to me. But if I'm missing something (home-made work by creative MacRumors members, perhaps?), I'd like to know.

Doctor Q - I think it's just a community thing, it's nice to see what everyones desktops look like - desktops, icons, dock, resolution etc.

Some people (me for instance) create their own desktops, too. But it's still nice to see everyone's desktop.

It's like walking into someone's house who has the same floor plan as yours but decorated completely different. It's neat being able to see what others do with a similar space and even get ideas as to how to more efficiently organize the dock, or to see what kinds of cool little utility apps people have in the menu bar or to see what awesome pictures people take, make, or use, or to see how certain custom icons look mixed together. It's just fun to see how we all start with the exact same desktop space but yet end up with hundreds of different and completely unique looking expressions out there.

    March desktop

I totally agree. Here's my current desktop, tweaked with G5-style system icons.

    Thanks, everyone, for the explanation.

I can't post my desktop - it's waaaaaaaaay too cluttered!

I really enjoy seeing the different desktops. As mentioned, many of the desktops are created by the member.

Doctor Q don't feel bad. You know what they say a cluttered desktop indicates a busy mind, mulitasking a lot of differnet projects. ;)

Since I started the March thread, I'll say this.

All in good time, I'll start the April Desktop thread while your all still in March. The Picture gallery seems to be the place where it is, thanks to Arn's rearrangement.

It's kind of like your house-- you're supposed to clean it before you show it off :D :p
