I am torn between the 20" and 23" Apple Cinema Display. I am getting one of them so I can put it on my bedroom wall using the VESA Mount, along with an EyeTV 250 and my MacBook. Stereo wise, I am going to use my Altec Lansing IM7 speakers. I am going to use the screen for basic uses really; watching TV, playing on my Playstation 2 using the EyeTV 250 playing games like Singstar and using my dancemat etc..., and using it as a media centre via Front Row. So this is where I come to the point on which display to choose. There is a massive price different between the two (£400), and I am wondering if 3" extra is really worth it. But I have seen on Apple's website that that it isn't HD (I think). I this going to make any difference to the things that I am wanting to do that I have stated above? Please reply quick, I am in a real dilemma!

Both displays are HD, though not in exactly the same way that an HDTV is "HD." In other words, the resolution is high enough, but the aspect ratio is different and the refresh method is different. Either monitor would be a fine choice, 23'' is a fair amount bigger than 20'', but 20'' is a lot cheaper. If sie makes that much of a difference to you, you can buy a 24'' Dell display (same resolution as Apple's 23'') for less than Apple's 23''. It doesn't look as nice as Apple's since it is plastic rather than aluminum, but it's still a high quality display. Look at the displays in person, if you can, to make up your mind.

(I should also note that presumably the reason Apple doesn't call the 20'' display HD is because it falls slightly short of the resolution for 1080p, but it is more than high enough res for 720p which in the TV world is also considered HD)

I bought a refurb 23" for the price of a 20" at a brick and mortar apple store, and I really love it. Also, the 23" is HD, 20" isn't. I would never buy lower than 23" now:D

Unless you have your heart set on the Apple design, you should check out the Dell widescreens. They are cheaper so you could even get two and place the side-by-side.

If you have the cash, then go with the 23" ACD.

I have a monitor question that I'll post in this thread since it's sorta' the same. Why shouldn't he just get the 24" Dell LCD. The price just dropped by about 1/4.

tbh the dell is not cheaper - enough - here in the UK for it to make a difference between the ACD23 and the Dell24..

    I'd go for the ACD23, definately. ;)

Ive read the the 2407's have quality issues, if you can find a 2405, I would go that route.

only, in the UK, the same display is a WHOLE LOT MORE EXPENSIVE. [clicky] - almost $1,550.

the minute they put the price to equivalent to the US - we'll be buying them quite a lot more. i'd certainly buy one at the current US price...

Bigger is always better! :D If you have the money, get the 23", and if you don't, get a refurbed 23" for a little bit less. :) 3" doesn't seem like much, but I've compared the two at an Apple store, and honestly, 3 extra inches is worth it when you have them side by side
