Okay, I have a 17" PB but I'm flirting with the idea of ordering a dual g5.. so I was wondering, of all the users here at MacRumors who has the best total mac setup?

So I guess this is your chance to via for the unofficial MacRumors best rig title... Post your systems and specs. If you think this is a dumb idea please feel free to flame me...

The most recent of those threads is over a year old.. much has changed in that time. Even with that in mind, those threads are just "post your setup" I'm looking for only the more elite rigs.. but then no one may be interested. *shrug*

I don't think it's a dumb idea, but it is very hard to judge. Apple kit is largly 'standard' (no mods like in the custom built PC world) so there will be many with the same setup. Also it's not just the kit, it's the layout, the desk, the chair....blah blah.

    edit: BTW...DP1GHZ (Quicksilver) / 1GB RAM / 80GB + 10GB HDD / GF4MX 64MB  / SuperDrive / Dual 18" NEC LCD's :D / 10GB iPod / Logitech Optical Mouse. I can't be bothered to take a pic, it'd never win anyway :( :p

Well, I've always posted this one - and I really liked the setup in my basement. It pains me to know that its no longer there....we had a flood and had to put drains in the floor, so everything got moved out. Moving to one of the bedrooms sort of became permanent - one day - probably in a couple years I'll have the room back to this configuration or something close. Plus a G5 or what ever my next machine is ;)

My setup is pretty sad...an old coffee table my grandfather made before I was born with my PowerBook sitting on top. It'd be cool to have a basement setup, that pic was pretty nifty. Unfortunately, we don't have basements in Florida.

    Well my current setup is a Dual/GHz/DDR PowerMac with 1GB or ram, 80GB IBM, 160GB WD SE, ATI9800, Superdrive, Lite-on 40125s 40x12x48.

Unfortuantely my weakpoint is outside the computer. I have an Apple CRT Studio Display 17". While it's very very nice it's small and is far from the latest and greatest.

I'll have to post a pic of the current space - its scary....:D

And my new setup is ok, but not as large - I had to put the drafting table in storage which really sucks.

I know that I have just an average setup, but I'm comfortable at the moment. The important thing is to be happy with what you have.

I would say that you cellar setup is a winner Mr. Anderson. What happened to cause the leak? Isn't there some kind of a permanent solution to prevent future leaks? :(

    16Mhz 68030 SE/30 with built-in 9" black and white screen

    muharharhar, beat that!!!

I think he moved it out before the leak luckily. I don't remember why it was being moved just the room it was going in wouldn't fit the drafting table.

That's a shame, that setup was pretty sweet. I bet it was one killer home office/workspace. It could be a killer Halo/gaming base, too :D

Arn posted a pic of his dual apple lcds.. I'm not sure if there were 2 20" or 2 23" screens, but that's pretty freakin awesome either way.

My own setup is decent I guess, but only 'cuz the 15" PB's have been in limbo for so long...

1Ghz TiBook 15" (obviously) w/ 1Gig RAM and that lovely Radeon Mobility 9000 graphics card. No superdrive though.

Crappy Mitsubishi 17" CRT for a second monitor.

Airport Extreme Base Station w/ Epson C82 hooked up to the USB port for wireless printing.

Apple keyboard and wireless logitech mouse for use at the desk.

Hmmm... I think thats all the goodies, at least the apple related ones.

I'm not much of a gamer - more interested in making things on the computer than playing on one.

The flooding supposedly has been fully contained - we'll see. The guys came over to do the work on Geekfest weekend, so that sort of created some problems.

Eye was there, he can tell you how bad it was ;)

Thankfully we never had more than wet rugs, no standing water.

That reminds me of about 3 years ago...a hurricane took part of the roof off our house and my PowerBook got a bit damp with the rest of my room. It survived without a problem, too! I wish I could say the same for my nice dark blue carpet...we had to rip out all of our carpets and pretty much replaced them all with wood flooring after that.

Once I get to school, I am playing around with a few ideas. I am getting a new 15" PowerBook when they become available and I want to get a wireless RF thingy to use my Pinoneer sound system for my audio, a nice iSight so I can talk/see my family while at school, and wireless router to connect my PowerBook, Xbox, and roommate's PC to a network for online multiplayer games. We'll see how much of that I actually do after stuff like books and all bleed my bank account dry.
