So I was kinda stunned today - even after watching the videos and pics of the new AppleTV it is just TINY!! - I saw the box and bought one and it is just so SMALL! - it is pocketable for cargos and I could see it being just brought to hotels for vacations because it is so small!

Anyone else blown away by just how small this new device is?

That's what she said. Wait, what?

I thought exactly the same thing when this "popped up" on Forum Spy. No pun intended.

Yeah, it's tiny. I feel like I should feed it up, or something :)

That, and the fact that it's black, makes it practically invisible sitting under my (black) TV. The old ones were huge.

    It also runs cool. Yay!

I thought the same thing. And then I just picked one up today at lunch and you know what, the OP is absolutely correct. The box itself is tiny. I haven't even had a chance to open it since I had to get back to work.

I thought about the hotel option or for presentations, but the limiting factor is wifi. Too bad adhoc wouldnt work for airplay.

If it were white it would be much bigger.

My wife thinks its massive.. oh you mean the AppleTV. Yeah it's tiny. Must have just jumped out of the shower. Maybe its the cold in the Alaska hangar. Play with it a bit and it will get bigger. er I mean play it and you'll get a big picture up on the tv even though its tiny.

Don't get me wrong, I think size is very important when it comes to electronics but the new ATV seems too small to me. I miss the component cable option on the old ATV (which I am keeping). I don't see the advantage of such a small device other than looks.

It's a great product for the price especially with the Netflix streaming option but original ATV owners may just want to wait until Apple decides whether the thing will run apps or not. If eventually it does support apps like Hulu Plus (it's running iOS 4.1. for pete's sake), then it's on like Donkey Kong!

The advantage is I can now pocket my AppleTV for traveling.

I can also attach the Apple TV to the back or bottom of the HDTV on the wall in the bedroom for a completely clean look with no cables or boxes showing.

My entertainment center has slots for all the different devices. With the Apple TV, though, I decided not to fight my way through all the cables and just stuck it behind the TV. It's small enough that you don't really need a space cleared for it. Heck, you could even velcro it to the wall.
