I have a 12" PB running 10.2.6. I repair permissions monthly and run mac janitor at least 2X/month, yet entourage quits daily, safari quits 1-2X/week, and word and imovie quit now and then.

Why does this happen, and how can I make it stop?

    Thanks for any advice,

It can happen for any number of reasons, and as such there's no cut and dry way to fix it. Do the applications quit when you do something specific with your machine?

Safari I can understand. It is still beta-quality software and is therefore prone to crashes now and then. The other apps, I just don't know without more information.

I have the same problems also with those programs. When I run iChat AV I have a lot more of them not work. Don't know why but I would really like to know.

Unexpected Quits are often due to bugs in the software. If you attempt to access memory that you have handed back to the system for example you will get a crash like this. This is obviously a pretty simple example but apps like Safari which does a lot of complicated caching an creates complex memory objects to render pages on screen can crash due to minor programming errors that only get encountered infrequently by users so do not get fixed very quickly.

The only trend I've noticed is with Entourage. It's most likely to quit when I want to access mail after I've woken the computer from sleep. That is if the application was open while the computer was asleep.

I'm having problems with Safari quitting too. I don't call them unexpected quits anymore because I completely expect them. I like Safari alot so I want to work this out but they're making it hard for me.

    Trends I've notices before quits:

Page gets stuck loading. Status bar will read something like "9 of 10 items complete" and it will stay that way.

Often the problem occurs only on the home page of a site while within the site, if I've entered by going around the home, its fine.

I have this problem sometimes at:

I have this problem always at:
    nypost.com (home page)

Any advice is hugely welcomed. Thanks.
