In the "2016 Macbook Pro, Order/Shipping Thread" thread it seems like the majority of 15" buyers are opting for the 2.9GHz processor. This is a $300 USD upgrade over the base 2.6GHz i7. For those people that are paying the extra money for 0.3GHz and 2MB cache difference - why did you go big on the CPU?
I'm being 100% sincere and not knocking any purchase decisions - I'm just curious people's reasons.
I had been under the impression that CPU is the least important component for most people, unless doing very specific CPU intensive tasks. And even then, the difference is minor. As someone who ordered a 2.6 without thinking about it, now I'm questioning my previous understanding, and wondering if this is something I should be reconsidering.
