Everytime I want to share files between my Macs, I've got to go into System Preferences and check the box that says "File Sharing." For some reason, it keeps turning itself off. Anyone know if there's a way to make it stay on?

You might find something in the logs that could help. Open Terminal and type:

    tail -100 /var/log/system.log

You can change the number 100 to anything you like or omit it altogether. It just gives you the last 100 lines.

    You could also:

    more /var/log/system.log

and hit the space bar to page through it looking for errors.

Without something to go on, it's hard to find the problem.

Well, I'm glad to know I'm not crazy! This has been happening to me for the past month.

I think this might have something to do with the Panther upgrade a few weeks back.

Hit the Lock icon at the bottom left of the Sharing pane in System Preferences.
