Hello-
I converted this video with handbrake the other day from a DVD.
When I attach my iPod classic, it says the format is incompatible, yet in Handbrake I selected the iPod format, and I'm pretty sure MPEG-4 is the right one?
Here is a screenshot with the movie's information;
Thank you for any help that is provided.

Get MediaInfo Mac, drag in the file, go to export, open the text file and paste the output here.

It's pretty not using the Baseline profile for x264.

Boom! Needs to be Baseline.

H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;

H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;

MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

In handbrake, after selecting the iPod present, check the 'iPod 5G Support' box. Then you can encode the file and it should sync :)

*Update*

After converting the video yet again from the DVD, this time with the iPod 5G support box checked, it still did not work- the codex remains as "Main"

Maybe try my settings

I saved the following settings as custom presets by modifying the Regular, Normal preset for watching on my older iPods. These should get you working, & you can tweak as needed for Average bitrate and audio bitrate, etc.

Format: MP4 file; Video Codec: MPEG-4 (FFmpeg); 2-pass encoding checked; Picture Settings: 320 x 240 for full-screen or something like 336 x 144 for wide screen. I also name the destination file using .mp4 instead of .m4v for legacy reasons.

The only downside I have found is not being able to play these MP4 files on the iPad. For iPad, the only changes are selecting the H.264 Video codec instead, & setting the Picture Settings to a larger size. Then it works fine.

Thanks for the information-
However, when using my version of handbrake (the newest version) It won't let you select 2 pass encoding with the MPEG-4 file type. I also don't know how to set the resolution (picture settings)
If anyone knows, I would be very grateful to know where these settings are located.
Thanks!
